GRIMAT ENGINEERING INSTITUTE CO., LTD.
Founded in 1952, General Research Institute for Nonferrous Metals (GRINM) is the largest comprehensive R&D institution in China’s nonferrous metals industry. It is a central enterprise supervised directly by SASAC and one of the first innovative enterprises in China. In December 2017, GRINM was reformed into GRINM Group Co., Ltd. (GRINM Group). It is at this time that GRIMAT Engineering Institute Co., Ltd. (GRIMAT) emerged from GRINM Group with its R&D institutions.
Since its official establishment on January 11, 2018, GRIMAT has become a leading hi-tech entity with around 300 outstanding employees. Its mission is to provide comprehensive scientific and technical support in the field of advanced materials for economic and social development.
GRIMAT has three national innovation platforms in the fields of structural and functional materials, including State Key Laboratory of Nonferrous Metals and Processes, State Key Laboratory of Advanced Materials for Smart Sensing and National Engineering Research Centre of Nonferrous Metals for New Energy Materials and Products.
GRIMAT consists of five major R&D institutes:
- Nonferrous Metals Structural Materials Division
- Advanced Electronic Materials Division
- New Energy and Eco-Environmental Materials Division
- Specialty Materials Processing Technology and Equipment Division
- Center for Advanced Materials and Application Technology
Those institutes have historically provided a large number of new materials, processes, technologies and pieces of equipment for China’s nonferrous metals industry. They have also undertaken a series of important national scientific and technological research projects as well as key emerging strategic technology development projects such as in the fields of aerospace, electronics and energy.
In the future, GRIMAT will adhere to its spirit of “Pursuing a Practical Entrepreneurship, Innovating a Better Future”, striving to provide better materials for the society.
